Reading Success

Not sure how many of you are aware, but I did a reading from one of my WIPs this last weekend at the women's studies conference at the state university. Given that this was my first official reading, and that I was the only creative presentation on the entire program, alongside a long list of academic research papers, I was suitably terrified.

However, I'm pleased to report that the reading went very well! The room was packed, I didn't choke in any way, and the audience was receptive. Whew!

How about you? Anybody have a first-reading story to share? I'd love to hear them!

I read part of my first chapter to a middle school class I teach, but other than that I haven't done a reading.

Congrats on yours! I'm glad it went well.

Aw, wish I could have heard that! You must have been floating on a cloud after such a good response. I know I would be!

Congrats! That's so exciting! I've never read my work in public before, but I can imagine how nerve-wracking that must have been.

Congrats!!

I have never done a reading and the whole idea of it freaks me right out. :D I hate public speaking/reading/dancing...what have you.

Oh, that sounds so intimidating. Nope, never done it. I'm glad yours went well, though. Congrats!

Congrats on your reading! Putting your words in front of others is nerve-wracking enough, so reading them aloud definitely takes guts.
